Buckman Tavern
1 Bedford St, Lexington, MA
Buckman Tavern is one of the most historic American Revolutionary War Sites. It was the place that ignited the very first battle that started the war between Americans and the British. This tavern was officially declared as a National Historic Landmark in 1961.
Built back in 1709-1710 by Benjamin Muzzey, Buckman Tavern was the first public house in Lexington. It became the favorite gathering place for militiamen while they were training at Lexington Green. After the war, Buckman Tavern became among the busiest taverns in Lexington as it had the first village store, as well as the first post office.
