The 33rd President of the United States, President Harry S Truman, died of pneumonia complications on December 26, 1972, at the age of 88. His beloved wife, Bess Truman, rathen than a state funeral at Washington, opted for a simple private service at the Harry S Truman Library and Museum in Independence, Missouri. Bess died in 1982 and was buried next to his husband at the library.
