Maine's First Ship
Maine's First Ship is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that aims to educate the public about the region's early history, craftsmanship, and relationships through the reconstruction of the 1607 pinnace Virginia. The Virginia was the first English ocean-going vessel built in the Americas. The organization also stewards the 19th-century Bath Freight Shed, a railroad building, and works to represent the indigenous stories of the area.
