This lecture is the third, and last, in our three-part Lecture Series, "Health and Medicine in 19th Century Boston."

Using the experiences of Georgianna Stowe Allen, daughter of Harriet Beecher Stowe, and her son, Dr. Freeman Allen, husband of Mary Ethel Gibson, we will explore how mental health, disability, and addiction informed the experiences of care in the late 19th century. This lecture will be host in conjunction with the Harriet Beecher Stowe Center.
