“Trimming the Tavern” 2025 is All About the Red, White and Blue!

Mark your calendar and get ready to enjoy our third annual Trimming the Tavern which opens on Saturday, December 6th at 10 a.m. and runs until Saturday, December 13th.  Opening hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. except Sunday when the museum will close to the public at 2 p.m. to prepare for our annual Members Wassail Party.

This year's theme will be "Red, White and Blue" celebrating the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. This community-wide seasonal event, led by the Country Garden Club of Weston, showcases local non-profits including the Weston Garden Club and the Weston Garden Club Evening Group, the Weston Public Library, Land's Sake, the Weston Council on Aging, the Weston Art and Innovation Center and Weston Forest and Trails Association.  These talented groups will decorate the museum, upstairs and down, with creative nods to the theme.

New this year is a special evening viewing on Tuesday, December 9th from 6 - 8 p.m. Enjoy a drink and stroll the museum in the magical candlelight.  See details and ticketing information for Twilight at the Tavern on our website HERE!

The Golden Ball Tavern was established and operated by prominent Weston resident, Isaac Jones. Isaac was a Loyalist turned Patriot and faced a dilemma not unlike those we face today. The tavern "at the sign of the Golden Ball" operated as an inn from 1770 to 1793 and played a pivotal role in the unfolding of the Revolutionary War. The house and Tavern were later occupied and carefully preserved for 200 years by six generations of the Jones family.

The Golden Ball Tavern is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is entirely self-sustaining
