Artist-educator Neil Horsky and teenage artists present The Freedom Trail on Trial, inviting dialogue across generations about history, civil engagement, and social change. In 2011, Jamaica Plain-based nonprofit URBANO commissioned Horsky to lead a critical investigation of Boston’s Freedom Trail, focused on the annual theme “Disobedience.” The teens considered alternative perspectives, drawing parallels between historical and current events and reinvigorating stories of the American Revolution. This presentation will share highlights from the project and invite audience participation in the dialogue. This program is made possible by funding from the Lowell Institute.
