For most of its history, the Medford plain contained farms, woodlots and a great spring fed swamp extending across the level area at the foot of Fulton Heights. In the late nineteenth century, the bankruptcy of a major business owned by the legendary Hall Family kick started development of the first streetcar neighborhood. Able to obtain the American dream, middle class Medford flocked here in a great migration. This 90 minute walking tour will walk through some of the earliest development that occurred, highlighting architecture and their associated occupants.
