Tavern Night, 5th Annual

    Improve listing Presented by

A celebration of autumn and sampling of Massachusetts craft beer, hard cider, locally made spirits, wine, and “enhanced” eggnog! Non-alcoholic beverages will also be available, plus food and live music! This is a great opportunity to try different craft beverages, enjoy the company of old and new friends, and learn some history—all while supporting your local museum for this important fundraiser!

This year, our 5th Anniversary, our historic theme is the “Striped Pig,” or the “Dedham Curiosity” of 1838. The Striped Pig was a clever ruse that involved paying to see a pig painted with stripes, when the goal was to obtain a glass of spirits. This “creation” was in response to temperance laws outlawing the purchase of single-serve liquor. There was a song written about the Striped Pig and the concept spread across the nation to wherever temperance laws were in effect, with political parties being formed to stop the “unfair” laws. And it started in Dedham! Read more about how Dedham again influenced the country! And don’t miss the opportunity to purchase a special T-shirt created for the occasion.
This is a 21 and over event.
