Park Ranger Susan Ashman of the Springfield Armory National Historic Site will join us via ZOOM and will give a talk about Soldiers of Production: Women Ordnance Workers at Springfield Armory. In World War I, 15% of the workforce at the Springfield Armory were women, at the height of World War II, it was 42%. Springfield Armory experienced a boom in women workers and through their dedication and patriotism to the job that they had to fill pushed forward not only the issues of equality for women, but proved these "Soldiers of Production" played a pivotal role in the workplace and on the home front.

Samantha Fargione, Executive Director of the Weston History & Culture Center will talk in person about Weston's Rosies. They might not have been working in factories, but contributed to the war effort in meaningful ways.
