See an Ancient Roman Legion at Nathaniel Green Homestead

Throughout history, ancient Rome has been widely discussed, praised, and emulated. No one has done so more enthusiastically than America's founding fathers. They were enamored with Rome's unique form of government, and ideas of liberty.
Would you like to learn more? Visit us on August 10, 2019 when the Roman Legion III Cyrenaica march to the Nathanael Greene Homestead.

Visitors will be welcome to come up and ask questions about the Legion's impression and research, Roman history, and its impact on Western Culture including of course the significant influence it had on the English Colonists and future Patriots like Nathanael Greene and George Washington.  They also plan to have their popular “try-on” hands-on interactive display where you can try on historical replica armor and helmets, tactical and combat aspects, as well as writing implements, cooking/foodways, medical technology, and civilian life.

Legion III Cyrenaica is a Roman Living History group with members throughout the New England states.  Everything worn and used is carefully researched and replicated based on archaeological artifacts.  The group also includes civilian / non-military aspects such as domestic life and women’s roles.  The group welcomes like-minded enthusiasts from various backgrounds and experience.  Research and education are emphasized, and members present regularly at the Worcester Art Museum, Worcester MA (the new home of the former Higgins Armory Museum / J.W.Higgins Collection of Arms & Armor), as well as to area schools, libraries and colleges.
