The Forbes House Museum and Courageous Conversations Toward Racial Justice are once again partnering for a community reading of Frederick Douglass’s speech “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?” This special event will open with a performance by the Boston Public Quartet. Following the reading, former MA State Representative Byron Rushing will facilitate a discussion and reflection.

The museum will be open beginning at 6:00 p.m. for those who want to view the special temporary exhibit “Frederick Douglass: Advocate for Equality.” The exhibit follows Douglass’ life from 1818-1895.
