The Museum of Printing
Join us at the Museum of Printing, Haverhill MA, on Saturday March 15, 2025 for a lecture & printing demonstration of Paul Revere's most infamous engraving print: The Boston Massacre. Andy Volpe hand-engraved an exact size replica of the Massacre for its 250th anniversary, one of only 2 plates engraved by hand in the 21st century. He will discuss the background of the Massacre and about the copperplate engraving process, as well as about how he worked on his replica plate. The lecture will be at 11:30am for about 1 hour.
Following the presentation, Volpe will plan to print from his plate. (exact time and demo subject to change)
Program is free with Museum admission / Membership
Prints from an earlier printing demo, exclusive to the Museum of Printing, will be available for purchase.
Meanwhile there will be a talk and demo about Wood Type at 1:00pm

Andy Volpe has been involved with the Museum of Printing since 2009 and has worked with Gary Gregory since 2012 who formed the Printing Office of Edes & Gill which replicated documents and prints relating to the American Revolution, using fully reconstructed replica printing presses, which moved to the Museum of Printing from Boston in January 2025.
Both the English Common Press and 1740s Rolling Press are on display at the Museum. Future plans are to continue to demonstrate and present on 18th century printing and how it affected the Revolution in Colonial Boston.
