Join us at the Museum of Printing, Haverhill MA, for Andy Volpe's presentation “Printing Revolution: Declaration Edition"

Presentation at 1:00PM, Free with Museum Admission, Donations also accepted.

We do not have the American Revolution, nor the 1st Amendment for Free Speech without the Printing press.

We'll take a look at the “revolution” of the printing press and graphics printing technologies in the 1400s and its impact on the World stage; the printing of revolution and revolutionary ideas; the perception of the press; the fight for a "free" and independent press between England and the American Colonies culminating in the printing of the Declaration of Independence and printing the American Revolution, hence the dual-meaning of “Printing Revolution”

A preview of replicas and some originals including several versions of the Declaration will be on display before and after the presentation.    Explore the museum's many collections to learn about other “revolutionary” printing and typographic technologies, including live demonstrations of our Linotype line casting machine, which revolutionized the production of newspapers.  Museum docents are also available to help guide visitors and give tours.
