With support from the White Mountain National Forest, The Nature Conservancy has been working for over 25 years to protect and restore the globally rare Ossipee Pine Barrens. Join the Conservancy’s Director of Stewardship & Ecological Management, Jeff Lougee, to learn about the unique plants and animals of the pine-barrens, and how prescribed fire is being used to maintain the ecosystem. The hike will be approximately two miles round trip along a level footpath that explores an area that has been managed with controlled burning.

RSVP is required (max 25 participants). To RSVP, email Rebecca at rrenman@plymouth.edu or call 603-535-3210. Meet at the Ossipee Pine Barrens “West Branch” Trailhead off of Route 41 in Madison, NH. Meet at 2pm for the Ossipee trip. The hike will begin at 2:15pm.

Free and open to all.
