We are postponing this due to bad weather. Please stay tuned for a new date.

Author and history teacher Christopher Daley will present “No Irish Need Apply”. It covers the massive wave of immigration to Boston after the Potato Famine and the assimilation into the American culture. It will also take a look at the scant evidence there is of the Irish who were brought over unwillingly as indentured servants in the late 17th century. This presentation promises to be not only educational, but interesting and exciting as we take a look at the Irish History in the area. This event is free and refreshments will be served.

This event will be at the Peter Rice Homestead at 377 Elm Street. Christopher Daley is a history teacher in the Silver Lake Regional School System in Kingston, Massachusetts. Mr. Daley was formerly the President of the Pembroke Historical Society and Chairman of the Pembroke Historical Commission. He was also a docent at the John Alden House Historical Site as well as Coordinator of Educational Outreach. He has written several articles on varied historical topics for local publications. His first book is entitled “Murder and Mayhem in Boston: Historic Crimes in the Hub”
