Join the Celebration! History At Play™, LLC commemorates those on the front lines for suffrage.
History At Play™, LLC (HAP) has garnered international attention for their Immersive Living History performances. How Long Must We Wait?™ celebrates those on the front lines of the Woman’s Suffrage Movement. Written by HAP’s Founder and Artistic Director Judith Kalaora to commemorate the 2020 Suffrage Centennial, and originally commissioned by the Massachusetts Women's History Center with support from the City of Boston, How Long Must We Wait?™ amplifies the courageous voices of those who struggled for human rights. Now, these trailblazers will travel to Groton, Massachusetts to share their incredible stories at Lawrence Academy, 14 Academy Drive, Groton, MA, on April 5th at 2:00 PM. A one-time only special event! Family-friendly and FREE to attend!
Running time approx. 45 minutes, plus a post-performance panel discussion and audience Q&A. How Long Must We Wait?™ is an audio-visual, multimodal performance that blends precise historic orations with interpretive movement, song, & symbolic design.
Meet fierce activists, who led a nearly century-long fight, including: Angelina Grimke, a Southerner, who dared to ask an all-male legislature to alter the state Constitution. Abolitionist Sojourner Truth who warned that “The women are coming up, blessed be … and a few of the men are coming up with them,” and many others. How Long Must We Wait?™ shares the struggles of ‘Silent Sentinels;' women incarcerated for peaceful, wartime demonstrations.
Featured in media outlets, including: WCVB Boston, CBS WBZ Radio, New York Times, & Associated Press, History At Play™, LLC chronicles influential and often forgotten historical figures in creatively produced Immersive Living History Experiences. Jordan Rich, of WBZ Radio ("The Jordan Rich Show"), states, “... it takes people like Judith [of History At Play] to bring these stories to life…these lost pieces of history.” Fredie Kay, Massachusetts Women's History Center Founder & President, exclaims that How Long Must We Wait?™... is an amazing art performance piece and an incredible and dramatic telling, singing, and dancing of the suffrage story at its heart.”
