Tours of the Pennypacker mansion during the holidays are a reflection of Christmases past when shimmering glass ornaments dangled from tree branches and shiny ribbons were woven through mantle greens and provided shine when families did not have electricity in their homes. Hear the story of how our modern-day Christmas all began. Listen to the family music box as it plays a Christmas song using a tin disc. Look through the Stereoscope to see 3-D Christmas images. All ages welcome. Tours take approximately 1 hour, last tour at 3 pm each day. Suggested donation $2/person.
Holiday Tour Hours: Tues-Sat: 10 am to 4 pm; Sun: 1 to 4 pm. Closed Mondays, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve & Day, and New Year's Eve & Day.
Note: Groups of ten or more should contact the site in advance to schedule a group tour.
The Museum Shop is stocked with beautiful, vintage inspired decorations, children’s toys and books, ornaments (hand-blown glass, glass icicles, Dresden’s), Clear Toy Candy, Wilbur Bud chocolates, and much more! Cash, personal checks and credit cards accepted.
Pennypacker Mills is the home of Pennsylvania Governor Samuel W. Pennypacker (1903-1907) and his family. Set on 170-acres of bucolic farmland, the mansion is completely furnished and houses an extensive collection of official and personal artifacts of the Pennypacker family. Operated by the County of Montgomery, the site is open year-round for guided tours, seasonal events, educational programs, changing exhibits, and special programs.
