Join Mike Smith, the 18th Century Cook, on the grounds of Quincy House for a look at what soldiers ate during the American Revolution.

In 1776, soldiers in the Continental Army made camp on the grounds of Colonel Josiah Quincy's house in Braintree. A letter from the time records the names of the officers and soldiers, but also the supplies provided by the Quincy family: firewood, candles, cider, milk, and utensils to prepare their rations. Explore a typical tent from the period with a setup for cooking and see the typical rations for soldiers. Visit the inside of Quincy House to learn about how the lives of the family members were affected by the war and what may have been on their dinner table.
