A Slice of Life: Collecting and Crafting with Ephemera

    Improve listing Presented by

Ephemera are “things”, mostly two dimensional, that are meant to serve a temporary purpose, not with a goal to be preserved for the future. Collecting ephemera introduces us to the practices of the past and informs our present. Join us at the Cabot House for an exploration of our ephemera collection to see what the people of Beverly did for entertainment, what they ate, and several other discoveries about their general lifestyle from some hundred years ago!

Bring a piece from your recent past that makes you feel connected to your city – a brochure from an event that you attended, an advertisement pamphlet that you found interesting, a photograph you took on the streets, a handwritten card/note/letter from someone, or anything for which the first instinct was to throw away, but you thought it was worth keeping. Bring some items you’d feel comfortable cutting and crafting with—we’ll be making small scrapbooks or “junk journals” for you to take home!
